CARDET (Centre for the Advancement of Research and Development in Educational Technology LTD), in collaboration with the consultancy firm INNOVADE L.I. LTD, and with the support of the European Integration Fund and the Ministry of Interior has undertaken the project Action C1: Research on educators’ perceptions and behaviours on issues pertaining to Third Country Nationals (TCNs) and suggestions for improving TCNs’ integration in the local society.

The project involves a first-of-its-kind nationwide research, which aims to investigate the perceptions, attitudes, and behaviours of educators in primary, secondary, and tertiary level educational institutions in Cyprus regarding issues pertaining to TCNs. The research involved the participation of more than 1500 educators through the completion of questionnaires, interviews, and focus groups. Based on their experience, educators were asked to express their perceptions on issues related to TCNs, as well as describe the pedagogical practices that they implement in order to aid TCNs be integrated in the educational system. The research aims to contribute to the improvement of intercultural education and the integration of TCNs in the educational environment in Cyprus through the provision of suggestions and best practices.

Within the framework of the aforementioned research project, CARDET and INNOVADE L.I. LTD are organizing a press conference in order to present the research results. The press conference will take place on Wednesday 26/06/2013 at 10 am, at the UNESCO Amphitheatre of the University of Nicosia. At the event, Dr. Athena Michaelidou, Director of the Cyprus Pedagogical Institute, and a representative of the Solidarity Funds of the Ministry of Interior will deliver an address.
