Migration is constantly highly prioritized in the majority of EU decision making processes and policy development in all fields. Initiatives, practices and tools, implemented at European and local level aim to enhance the management of documented migration, meet the challenges of undocumented migration flows, and boost the positive effects of migration on development.

Migration and Integration: The Role of Local Authorities, policies and MIPEX benchmarking.

Migration has been increasing dramatically over the last decades. People usually are forced to migrate hoping to find a better quality of life or opportunities. The issue though is whether the host country has an effective migration policy for integration that addresses to their needs.

The  WelComm  project  aims  at  raising  awareness  of  the  importance  of  education  for  social  inclusion  of  migrants from early age and promoting opportunities for equal start in education. Migrant children often grow up in households only hearing and speaking the native language of their parents and they are challenged by their language skills upon school entry. Early education can address school readiness and language acquisition, enabling  children  to  enter  kindergarten  with more  advanced language skills and at the same time facilitate integration for immigrant families into the host society.
